How can I stop giving it Power?

The United Way introduces solutions to challenge gender norms. They write, "Parents can encourage children to pursue their passions regardless of gender and even take turns doing gender specific jobs like taking out the trash and cooking. Educators can promote inclusion and diversity in the classroom by avoiding stereotypes like "I need strong boys to do this" and instead ask "I need strong students to do this." and include books that feature genders in nontraditional roles. When watching media people can challenge what's being shown to them by breaking down the stereotypes featured and questioning the goal of said media. (Gender Roles & Gender Norms: Definition & Examples).Questioning what you perceive keeps you from what society has built these norms surrounding gender but it's up to the viewers to determine if they want to be shaped by them. Acknowledging these gender differences and how someone can flip the script helps to destroy these gendered stereotypes from continuing. Staying informed and aware is the start for gender equality to take effect.
